London Marathon 2027: A Record 1,338,544 Ballot Entries
A record-breaking 1,338,544 people have entered the public ballot for the 2027 London Marathon, marking the highest number of applications ever submitted for the event.
The race, scheduled for 25 April, has already surpassed last year’s total of 1,133,813 entries, setting a new milestone in the event’s history.
The 2026 edition also delivered a landmark moment, with 59,830 runners reaching the finish line — the highest number ever recorded in London.
Organisers highlight that the scale of this year’s interest reflects the growing strength and appeal of the London Marathon. The event continues to attract participants of all ages and abilities, reinforcing its mission to inspire people to stay active.
Ballot results will be announced in early July. For the first time, applications from the United Kingdom alone exceeded one million, with an almost equal split between male and female entrants.
Organisers are also exploring the possibility of staging the 2027 London Marathon across two days — Saturday and Sunday — to better accommodate the overwhelming demand for places.
