London Marathon 2027: Abbott World Marathon Majors Draw

The deadline to enter the Abbott World Marathon Majors draw for one of 500 entries to the 2027 London Marathon is Wednesday, August 26, at 12:00 p.m. New York time. The race itself is scheduled for the weekend of April 24–25, 2027.

It has not yet been confirmed on which of the two race days the runners selected in this draw will start. Being drawn does not mean a free bib — you still need to pay the official race entry fee to secure your place. The rules are strict: entries cannot be deferred to another year, except in cases related to pregnancy.

Who Is Eligible for the Draw?

To be eligible to enter the draw, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • you have completed three, four, five, or six different World Marathon Majors other than the London Marathon,
  • you have never officially finished the London Marathon before,
  • you have an Abbott World Marathon Majors account and profile on the official AbbottWMM website.

To enter the draw, log into your AbbottWMM account and submit your entry in the Race Draws section. The draw will take place on Thursday, August 27, and runners are expected to be notified on Friday, August 28. You should receive an email with the result and can also check your draw status directly in your AbbottWMM account.

If you have already been drawn for a 2027 Tokyo Marathon entry or a 2027 Boston Marathon entry through AbbottWMM draws, you are not eligible to win a 2027 London Marathon entry or any other 2027 Major entry through AbbottWMM draws.

If you are not selected in the initial draw, there is still a chance you may be chosen later if some winners fail to claim their entries by the deadline and those places return to the pool.

Extra Entries from Virtual Half Marathons

Runners who completed the $50 AbbottWMM virtual half marathons in 2026 can add additional entries into this draw — one extra entry for each virtual half marathon finish that has not been used in any other draw. There were eight AbbottWMM virtual half marathons in 2026, so it is possible to have up to nine entries in this draw. Follow the instructions in your AbbottWMM account to apply these extra entries.

Gold Club — Separate Draw

There is a separate draw for an undisclosed number of places reserved for Gold Club members — annual fee in 2025 was $449. Gold Club members are not subject to the star requirements and can enter this club draw even if they have previously completed the London Marathon.

How the New AbbottWMM Draw Process Works

All draw entries are managed through the Runner Portal. Additional entries earned via Road to the Majors challenges are also handled there. Entries must be claimed within the two‑week registration window. In the portal, you can see your eligibility status, the number of entries you hold, and the results of each draw. Selected runners must actively accept or decline their spot; any unclaimed or declined entries are returned to the pool and reassigned to other runners.

AbbottWMM Draws — Step‑by‑Step Guide

Log in to the Runner Portal and select Race Draws from the main menu. In the Active Race Draws section, you will see all open draws. If you are eligible, you can enter; if not, the portal will show the reason. Draw results are displayed in the portal, and if you are selected, you must accept or decline your place.

Entries earned through Road to the Majors are claimed in the Global Run Club section at the bottom of the page. Completed challenge results appear in the Completed Draw Results section, where you can track which challenges have already contributed entries to specific draws.
