The 2027 TCS London Marathon will feature a unique, one-time two-day format, taking place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April. This expanded edition will welcome 100,000 participants across the same iconic route from Greenwich to Westminster, creating the largest running and fundraising weekend in UK history.

The new “Double” format responds to unprecedented demand — highlighted by the 1.33 million ballot entries for the 2026 race — and opens the door for more runners, charities, and community groups than ever before. It also strengthens the event’s global impact, following its recognition as the world’s No. 1 marathon brand in 2025.

“The Most Ambitious Evolution To Date”

London Marathon Events CEO Hugh Brasher described the 2027 Double as a once-in-a-generation reimagining of what a marathon and city-wide celebration can be.

The two-day format will also create the biggest fundraising moment in UK sport. Already the world’s largest one-day annual fundraising event, the London Marathon has generated more than £90 million for charity by 2026 participants. The 2027 Double is expected to surpass £150 million in charitable impact.

One day will feature elite women, female para-athletes, championship women, and Good For Age women. The other day will host elite men, male para-athletes, championship men, and Good For Age men. Full format details will be confirmed in the coming months.

“A Showcase Of The Best Of London”

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan highlighted that the Double will allow a record number of participants to take part and support thousands of charities across the UK.

All applicants for the 2027 ballot will automatically be entered for both Saturday and Sunday. Participants cannot run in-person on both days, but they may combine one in-person race with the virtual TCS London Marathon MyWay. Ballot results will be announced in early July through a fully random draw.

The Double will headline a full week of celebrations, including an expanded TCS London Marathon Running Show, the Friday Night Lights 5K, and the TCS Mini London Marathon — the world’s largest one-day timed children’s race, welcoming more than 20,000 young runners.
