New York City Marathon 2026 — Transportation, Baggage Check and EXPO Visit Selection

Information for participants of the New York City Marathon 2026 — selecting transportation, baggage check and your EXPO visit before race day.

Starting August 25, runners registered for the New York City Marathon 2026 can log into their NYRR accounts to choose their transportation to the start, reserve a time window for bib pickup at the EXPO, and register for the official baggage check. All selections are made online, and it’s worth completing them early as certain options may fill up quickly.

The deadline for choosing transportation and registering a bag for baggage check is September 8 at 11:59 p.m. New York time. Until that date, runners may modify their choices if alternative options remain available. After the deadline, selections are locked, and arriving at a different time or location than assigned may result in disqualification.

Your assigned transportation time is based on your fastest pace from an NYRR race in the past two years or, if unavailable, the estimated marathon finish time provided during registration.

Transportation Options to the Start

Midtown Bus — buses depart from 42nd Street and 5th Avenue between 5:00 and 6:30 a.m. Delays may occur on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, and security screening lines can form once buses arrive at Fort Wadsworth.

Staten Island Ferry — ferries operate from approximately 5:30 to 9:00 a.m. After arriving on Staten Island, runners board buses heading to Fort Wadsworth. The ferry offers a view of the Statue of Liberty, but later departures may lead to lines for the buses.

New Jersey Bus — buses depart from MetLife Stadium. Cars cannot be left at the stadium, and there is no return transportation after the race.

Private Transportation — some tour operators and charities provide their own buses. A number of runners choose rideshare services, keeping in mind toll costs and the early closure of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.

Baggage Check

There is no baggage check at the Staten Island start. To use the official service, runners must register by September 8 and use only the bag provided at the Expo. Bags must be dropped off in Central Park on October 30 or 31 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pickup after the race takes place at the same location.

EXPO and Bib Pickup

The EXPO and bib pickup will be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on 11th Avenue. The event runs from October 29 to October 31. The easiest way to reach the venue is by taking the 7 train to 33rd Street/Hudson Yards and following the crowd to the Javits Center.
