Berlin Marathon 2026: Time Qualification

The Berlin Marathon is one of the top road races in the world, attracting thousands of runners each year. If you want to participate in the 2026 edition without entering the lottery, you must meet specific time requirements. This article provides a guide to qualifying by time.

Who Can Apply via Time Qualification?

Registration in this form is available to runners who have achieved the required time in an official marathon within the last two years (2024 or 2025). Age eligibility is also required. A time certificate must be submitted during registration, and verification takes place at the end of November 2025.

Important: Submission does not guarantee a spot on the start list. If documents are invalid, the application goes to the general lottery.

Official marathon completion certificate with qualifying time
Link to the race results page
Document confirming age

Only results from marathons certified by AIMS, USTA TF, or listed in the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings are accepted. Virtual races or other distances are not considered.

Registration Timeline and Process

Registration for the Berlin Marathon 2026 begins in fall 2025. Prepare your documents in advance. After submission, organizers verify them by the end of November. If everything checks out, you’ll receive confirmation of participation. Otherwise, you’ll enter the lottery.
