Lottery Schedule
– Date: Wednesday, March 5, 2025
– Start Time: Around 6:00 AM New York time (EST)
– Duration: The lottery will run throughout the day
How Does the Lottery Work?
1. Notifications for Selected Participants:
– The first notifications for those who are selected will be sent shortly after 6:00 AM.
– The notification process will continue throughout the day – some participants may receive their notification as late as the afternoon or evening.
– If someone announces they’ve been selected at 7:00 AM and you haven’t heard anything by 4:00 PM, you still have a chance to be selected.
2. Notifications for Those Not Selected:
– If you are not selected, you will receive a notification only after the entire lottery process has concluded.
3. Second Chance for NYRR Members (New York Road Runners):
– After the open lottery concludes, there will be an additional drawing for NYRR members.
– Important: If you are chosen in this round, you will not automatically be registered for the marathon. You’ll receive a special code within a week and must register and pay on the NYRR website by March 31.
– Until you register and pay, your status will remain as “Not Accepted.”
How to Check if You’ve Been Selected?
There are several ways to find out if you’ve been selected for the marathon. Typically, the information appears in the following order (though it may vary):
1. Credit Card Charge:
– If you notice a charge of $255 (for NYRR members) or $315 (for non-members), this means you’ve been selected.
2. Status Change on Your NYRR Dashboard:
– Your status will change to “Accepted.”
3. Confirmation Email:
– You’ll receive an email informing you that you’ve been selected.
What’s Next After Being Selected?
If you’ve been selected:
– Congratulations! You can now start preparing for one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.
– Make sure all formalities (e.g., registration and payment) are completed on time.
If you haven’t been selected:
– Don’t give up! You can try again next year or explore other ways to secure a spot in the marathon (e.g., through charity programs).
