Berlin Marathon 2026 — How to Get a Race Number Through the Lottery?
September in Berlin means one thing for runners: BMW Berlin Marathon. Flat, fast, and iconic — it’s a dream race for many. But before you hit the start line, you’ll need a race number, and that means entering the lottery.
Here’s everything you need to know to register correctly and avoid missing any deadlines.
Key Dates
• Ballot Opens: September 25, 2025
• Ballot Closes: November 6, 2025
• Race Day: September 27, 2026
• Results Sent: End of November 2025 (via email)
All participants — including fast runners with a qualifying time — will automatically receive their result by email.
How to Enter the Lottery
To be included in the draw, you must register through the official BMW Berlin Marathon website. Sign up here.
Make sure to:
• Use a valid email address
• Be at least 18 years old (born in 2008 or earlier)
• Review the competition rules set by World Athletics and the German Athletics Federation
Participation Fee
• The entry fee for BMW Berlin Marathon 2026 is €205
Individual vs Team Registration
You can sign up either as a solo runner or as part of a team of 2–3 people.
Important: You must choose one option — registering individually means you cannot join a team later.
If you’re creating a team, the first person to register selects the team option and enters a team name. After completing registration, they’ll receive a confirmation email with a team code. This code must be shared with the other team members, who will enter it during their own registration to join the same team.
Race Rules and Time Limit
• The course must be completed within 6 hours and 15 minutes from crossing the start line
• Walkers are allowed if they stay within the time limit
• Nordic walking is not permitted
• Only handbikes and race wheelchairs are allowed as sports equipment
• Participants who exceed the time limit will be picked up by the “broom bus” and must leave the course
