5K Peace Run Before the Cape Town Marathon 2026
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, in addition to the main distance, 10K, and Trail Runs, offers a short and accessible accompanying event – the 5K Peace Run. Participation in this run is open to entrants aged 9 and older. Entry fees vary depending on the participant’s category: South African Residents (SA), African Residents (Africa), and International Participants (INT). Registration for all races is done through the runner’s account on the official Howler portal.

Although the 5K Peace Run is not part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors series, finishers of the main marathon will receive a provisional star, which will become a full WMM Star upon the race’s official entry into the series.

5K Peace Run Entry Fees: Categories and Costs
The table below shows the breakdown of entry fees for the 5 km race, based on the participant’s origin. Prices are listed in South African Rands (R) and approximate US Dollars (USD). The minimum age requirement is 9 years.
Note: For the 5K Peace Run, the temporary timing chip is not included in the entry fee for SA and AF residents. Only International Participants (INT) have the chip included in the fee.
