Boston Marathon 2027 – 33,656 Qualifying Applications Submitted

The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has confirmed that during the registration week for the 131st Boston Marathon (2027), a total of 33,656 qualifying applications were submitted.

Athletes From 129 Countries and All 50 U.S. States

Between September 14–18, applications were submitted by athletes representing 129 countries and every U.S. state. The Boston Marathon once again demonstrated its global reach and unique status in the world of long-distance running.

Verification and Acceptance Process

Due to field size limitations, not all athletes with qualifying times will be accepted into the race. In the coming weeks, the B.A.A. will verify all submissions, and acceptance or non-acceptance notifications will be sent via email in early October.

The organization will not provide an estimated “cut-off” time required for acceptance. A new feature for 2027 — the Boston Qualifier Selection — will offer an additional opportunity for athletes who do not meet the final cut-off threshold.
