Sydney Marathon 2027: Time Qualification
The High Performance Program for the 2027 Sydney Marathon powered by Porsche offers a total of 1,200 places, divided into two groups: Sub-Elite and Good for Age. The aim of the program is to increase the percentage of eligible athletes accepted and ensure balanced representation across men, women and non-binary runners.
Submitting a qualifying time does not guarantee entry. All applications are compared against each other, and places are awarded to the fastest athletes in each category until the allocation is full.
Time Standards – High Performance Program 2027
Qualifying times must be achieved in a World Athletics-certified marathon after 1 July 2025, on a course with no more than 457 metres of net elevation drop. Results may be verified using gun time or net (chip) time, provided they are officially published and accessible.

Sub-Elite Program
The Sub-Elite Program includes 600 of the fastest applicants based on their submitted time — across men, women and non-binary categories. Participants receive guaranteed, paid entry to the 2027 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, a place in the High Performance Start Group behind the elite and Australian Championship athletes, access to North Sydney Oval as a warm-up venue, dedicated bib collection, an invitation to the HPP Shakeout Run, and a series of emails with insights from Elite Athlete Manager and two-time Olympian Ben St Lawrence.
Good for Age Program
The remaining 600 places form the Good for Age Program, where athletes qualify based on their age group and gender category. Participants receive guaranteed, paid entry to the 2027 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS, are seeded in the mass field according to their submitted time, invited to the HPP Shakeout Run, and receive dedicated email updates with organisational details and training guidance from the Sydney Marathon elite team.
The application window for the 2027 program ran from 14 to 18 September 2026 and is now closed.
