Berlin Marathon 2025 was not only about sporting excitement but also fascinating figures that highlight the scale and character of the event. This year’s edition was exceptional in many ways — from record-breaking attendance and extreme weather conditions to innovative ecological solutions. Below are the most interesting statistics that define the 51st edition of the BMW Berlin Marathon.

Record-Breaking Weather

This year’s marathon took place under extreme conditions. 27.6°C — the highest temperature in the history of the BMW Berlin Marathon, surpassing the previous record from 2009 (25.0°C). Such heat required special attention to hydration from the organizers.

Ecology First

In 2025, organizers focused on sustainability. Participants had access to 1.25 million cups made from recycled PET, used to serve 250,000 liters of water. Most of these were recycled again thanks to special return zones placed along the course.

The Power of Volunteers

The success of the Berlin Marathon is not only due to the runners but also to the 5,700 volunteers who supported nearly 80,000 participants across various competitions — from the main run to inline skating and wheelchair/handbike races. Their dedication creates the unique atmosphere of the event.

Top-Level Logistics

Organizers took care of every detail — even snacks. During the weekend, 120,000 eco-friendly bananas were distributed, providing participants with energy and potassium. This is just one example of the massive logistical operation behind the Berlin Marathon.
