Entries for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 2026 are now open! The marathon will take place on 24 May 2026. Organizers have provided two main registration pathways: the General Ballot and a special pool of sponsored entries for those affected by the 2025 race cancellation.

The application window for the general ballot for the 2026 marathon is open from 6 to 25 November 2025. This is the standard way to secure a starting number.

When is the 2026 marathon?
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon 2026 will take place on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
What is the ballot application fee?
There is a non-refundable R5 application fee. This fee is entirely donated to the official marathon charities.
What happens if I am unsuccessful in the ballot?
If you are unsuccessful in the draw, you still have a chance to get a spot. From 29 November 2025, you will be able to register through an official charity organization or a tour operator.
I was registered for 2025. What do I need to do?
You must choose your option: between 6 and 25 November 2025, log in to your Howler profile, find your 2025 ticket, and decide whether you will run in 2026, 2027, or donate your entry to charity.
