For the Swedish athlete, it was his debut over the 42.195 km distance. Despite having no previous marathon experience, he was considered one of the contenders for the win. He ultimately decided the race in his favor in the final part of the course.

Second place went to Italy’s Yemaneberhan Crippa, who finished just 13 seconds behind the winner. At halfway, the clock showed 1:04:01, with Talbi in front. The Moroccan athlete tried several times to increase the pace and break away from the group, but his advantage did not last long. Crippa and the others gradually closed the gap, and the lead group came back together.

Around the 32 km mark, Kamohelo Mofolo launched an attack. He is the first European-born winner of the New York City Marathon in 30 years.
