World Marathon Majors 2027 \u2014 Potential Race Calendar<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The graphic above shows a possible layout of the Abbott World Marathon Majors in 2027 \u2014 the first season that may include nine races spread across the entire year. It would be the most extensive and global calendar in the history of the series, covering events from March to December across four continents.<\/p>\n

Based on current expectations, the season would open with the Tokyo Marathon in March<\/strong>, followed by the Boston Marathon<\/strong> and the TCS London Marathon<\/strong> in April. Cape Town<\/strong>, now a full Major, is positioned for May. The remaining months include: Sydney in August<\/strong>, Berlin in September<\/strong>, Chicago in October<\/strong>, New York City in November<\/strong>, and potentially Shanghai in December<\/strong>, if the race completes the full A.W.M.M. evaluation.<\/p>\n

Cape Town officially joined the Abbott World Marathon Majors in June 2026 as the eighth Major. Runners who completed the race in 2026 received a provisional star, which was automatically converted into a full star once the race was confirmed. It is the first Major in Africa and a major milestone in the global expansion of the series.<\/p>\n

In that scenario, a new goal \u2014 the Nine Star Medal<\/strong> \u2014 will be introduced alongside the classic Six Star Medal, which remains unchanged and will continue to represent the original six races.<\/p>\n
