A total of 54,351 runners crossed the finish line, setting a new attendance record for the event. For comparison, the previous year saw 52,062 finishers. This is a testament to the growing popularity of street running and the exceptional reputation of the Chicago Marathon.

The weather conditions were conducive to records – cool air, no wind, and a flat course created ideal circumstances for fast running. As a result, we witnessed record-breaking results among the elite.

Men’s Elite: Kiplimo and Mantz in a Historic Race

The winner of the men’s race was Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda, who achieved a phenomenal time of 2:02:23. This is one of the fastest results in the history of the marathon and a new national record for Uganda. Kiplimo led from the halfway point, maintaining a pace below 2:55 min/km for most of the course. He was followed by Amos Kipruto (2:03:54) and Alex Masai (2:04:33), both from Kenya.

Finishing in fourth place was Conner Mantz of the USA, who set a new United States record – 2:04:43.
