On October 13, the world’s elite runners competed on the streets of Chicago, with spectators watching both debutants and experienced marathoners. This year, exactly 52,150 people finished the race, setting a new event record and marking one of the highest finisher totals globally. This edition made history thanks to record-breaking results and an exceptional atmosphere created by both runners and fans. Before the race began, a minute of silence was held in memory of the late world record holder Kelvin Kiptum.

A Record-Breaking Race and Drama to the Finish

In the men’s competition, John Korir of Kenya claimed victory with a time of 2:02:44—the second-fastest time in Chicago Marathon history, behind only the world record set by Kiptum a year earlier.
