Before you cross the start line, there are still a few important steps to take in what\u2019s known as the Start Area \u2013 the pre-race preparation zone.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2025, this guide will help you navigate the five Assembly Areas, understand where to go, what to bring, and how to stay calm in a crowd of thousands of runners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How Assembly Areas Work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are five Assembly Areas this year. This is very important, as it\u2019s the only place where you can drop off your kitbag and head to the start line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transport and Arrival<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Free travel is offered to all runners on race day:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Southeastern trains from London terminals<\/li>\n<li>DLR<\/li>\n<li>Underground and buses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important: Just show your bib \u2013 don\u2019t tap your card or Oyster at any gate!<\/p>\n<p>Recommended travel planning:<\/p>\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/plan-a-journey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tfl.gov.uk\/plan-a-journey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nationalrail.co.uk<\/a> to check routes and updates.<\/p>\n<p>Travel Tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For the Red zone, the best access is from Greenwich Station.<\/li>\n<li>For the Pink zone \u2013 from Maze Hill.<\/li>\n<li>For Blue, Green, and Yellow \u2013 from Blackheath Station.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pre-Race Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you arrive in your Assembly Area:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the baggage truck with your bib number and drop off your kitbag there.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure you have:\n<ul>\n<li>Post-race food,<\/li>\n<li>A securely tied bag,<\/li>\n<li>Unnecessary items removed (don\u2019t bring your phone unless absolutely necessary).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Use the toilets \u2013 accessible units and Peequals (female urinals) are available.<\/li>\n<li>Start waves begin at 9:35 AM and close at 11:30 AM. You won\u2019t be allowed to start after that time \u2013 so don\u2019t be late.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Practical Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022Don\u2019t bring friends\/family to the Start \u2013 it\u2019s runners-only.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Use the water refill stations at miles 7.5, 15, and 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Donate unwanted clothes at designated bins.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Find help at the Information Point in each Assembly Area.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Spot pacers near the Start Line \u2013 look for bright flags with finish times.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Start Area Map<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-226840\" src=\"https:\/\/worldmarathoner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/IMG_0012-819x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"1024\" \/><strong>FAQ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Can I choose another Assembly Area? You won\u2019t be allowed to start after 11:30 AM.<\/p>\n<p>Can I bring a backpack? No \u2013 only the official kitbag is allowed.<\/p>\n<p>Are there enough toilets?
