In both the men’s and women’s races, Kenyan athletes triumphed, making their mark on the history of this prestigious event.

Men’s Race: John Korir Unstoppable

From the very first kilometers, the men’s competition promised to be extremely tight. Initially, North American runners took the lead, but the African group quickly caught up, forming a compact front pack. The pace was intense, with the 10-kilometer mark passed in an impressive time.

Even after the halfway point, it was hard to pick a clear favorite. Only after the 30-kilometer mark did the situation begin to take shape. John Korir, known for his dynamic surges on difficult sections of the course, took advantage of one of the hills to break away from his rivals. His lead gradually increased, and subsequent attempts to catch him proved fruitless.

The final kilometers became a solo show for Korir, who confidently moved toward victory. He crossed the finish line with a phenomenal time of 2:04:45, proving that he currently ranks among the world’s elite marathoners. Also making it to the podium were Alphonce Simbu and Cybrian Kotut, who battled fiercely for second place. Fourth place went to Conner Mantz, who set a new personal best.

📸 Boston Marathon 2025

Women’s Race: Sharon Lokedi Sets Course Record

In the women’s race, it initially seemed that the American runners might contend for top spots, but with each passing kilometer, their presence at the front began to fade. African athletes took control, setting a blistering pace that led to record-breaking split times.

After the halfway point, the competition grew even more intense. Only the top favorites remained in the lead group, and the pace did not ease up. Sharon Lokedi, who for a moment appeared to be losing contact with the leaders, managed to fight her way back during one of the uphill segments.

The decisive moments came in the final kilometers. Lokedi and Hellen Obiri engaged in a thrilling duel, continuously testing each other’s strength. Ultimately, it was Lokedi who proved stronger, finishing with a new course record of 2:17:22. Obiri had to settle for second place, while the podium was completed by Yalemzerf Yehualaw.

📸 Boston Marathon 2025

Historic Day in Boston

This year’s Boston Marathon showed why this event is so special.
